PLNU Business Students Visit CCSI to Learn about Mexico’s Business Opportunities

In October 2019, a group of International Business students from Point Loma Nazarene University visited Call Center Services International (CCSI) for the third time, continuing an educational relationship that gave students a firsthand look at nearshore business operations in Mexico.

The students toured CCSI's Otay facility in Tijuana, Mexico, and participated in a Q&A session with members of the Business Development team and the company's President at the time. The visit gave the students an opportunity to learn firsthand about nearshore operations and why Mexico has become a strategic business location for U.S. companies.

The experience provided a practical view of several of the advantages associated with nearshore contact center operations, including proximity to the United States, access to bilingual talent, cultural alignment, and modern business infrastructure.

Learning About Nearshore Operations

Sal Ramirez and Luis Galindo, members of CCSI's Business Development Team at the time, welcomed the group and guided them through the center.

During the tour, students had the opportunity to speak with managers and supervisors on the operations floor and learn how teams supported CCSI clients across activities such as customer service, loan processing and other business processes, and technical support. The students were also able to observe CCSI's workplace culture, team environment, and operational onboarding firsthand.

During the Q&A session, Eric Esparza, who served as CCSI's President at the time, discussed the history of the company and some of the challenges CCSI had faced as a rapidly growing organization.

Sharing Experience With Future Business Leaders

CCSI has welcomed opportunities to share its experience with future business leaders and provide students with a practical view of international business operations. Visits such as this one allow students to see how a U.S.-Mexico nearshore operation works and understand advantages such as a bilingual and bicultural workforce, proximity to the United States, modern contact center facilities, and the potential operating efficiencies of doing business in Mexico.

For students studying international business, visiting an active operation in Tijuana also provides direct exposure to the cross-border business environment connecting Southern California and Baja California.
