Check 'n Go Visits Their Nearshore Baja, Mexico Call Center Team

In August 2017, Check ‘n Go Chief Operating Officer Julie Joseforsky visited the company’s nearshore contact center team in Baja California, Mexico, recognizing the team’s performance and discussing the company’s vision for continued growth.

Julie Joseforsky, who served as Check ‘n Go’s Chief Operating Officer at the time, visited the company’s nearshore contact center in Baja California, Mexico on August 9, 2017.

During the visit, Joseforsky thanked the Baja team for its contribution to a record year and held a town hall meeting to discuss the company’s vision for continued success.

“I am very impressed with the culture, leadership, disciplines, and professionalism of everyone here,” said Joseforsky about the Baja team.

A Nearshore Team Contributing to Record Performance

The visit followed an important period of growth and performance for Check ‘n Go’s Mexico operation.

In 2016, the Baja team helped Check ‘n Go achieve a record-breaking 5,000 loans funded in a single day. According to the original 2017 report, the team continued surpassing that performance milestone throughout 2017.

This achievement demonstrated how a properly integrated nearshore contact center in Baja California could provide additional capacity while remaining closely connected to a U.S.-based operation.

Building the Check ‘n Go Nearshore Operation in Mexico

In 2015, Axcess Financial, Check ‘n Go’s parent company at the time, partnered with Call Center Services International (CCSI) to establish a nearshore contact center in Baja California.

The company needed additional agent capacity to support what was then a network of approximately 1,000 stores and its online lending programs.

CCSI provided the local infrastructure and administrative support required to establish and operate the Mexico team, allowing Check ‘n Go to expand capacity while maintaining integration with its existing U.S. operation.

“I have full confidence that CCSI is the right vendor to work with and continue to grow our business with,” said Joseforsky about working with Call Center Services International.

Integrated With the U.S. Contact Center

Check ‘n Go’s Baja contact center was designed to operate as an extension of the company’s main Ohio operation rather than as an isolated outsourcing vendor.

At the time, the nearshore team provided:

  • Additional contact center agent capacity
  • Bilingual customer support capabilities
  • Competitive labor costs
  • Integration with the existing U.S. operation
  • Geographic proximity to company management in the United States

That model continues to illustrate one of the principal advantages of nearshore contact centers in Mexico: companies can add talent and capacity while remaining much closer to the new operation than with many traditional offshore locations.

For operations in Baja California, CCSI’s Tijuana location also provides convenient cross-border access from the San Diego region, supporting site visits, training, executive meetings, and closer operational collaboration.

About Check ‘n Go

Check ‘n Go is a U.S. consumer financial services company that has served customers for more than 25 years. Its current services include installment loans, payday loans and cash advances, with both retail and online services available depending on location and applicable requirements.

The operational statistics cited earlier in this article, including approximately 1,000 stores, describe Check ‘n Go as it operated during the original 2016–2017 period and should not be interpreted as current company figures.

A Historical Example of the Nearshore Model

The Check ‘n Go Baja operation provides a useful historical example of how nearshoring can support business growth without separating the new team from the existing organization.

By combining additional workforce capacity with bilingual talent, geographic proximity, local operational support, and integration with U.S. systems and management, companies can build teams in Mexico that function as extensions of their domestic operations.

Nearshore expansion is most effective when the Mexico team operates as part of the client's organization — sharing its processes, standards, goals, and culture.

Today, CCSI continues to help U.S. organizations establish nearshore contact center operations in Mexico with access to bilingual talent, professional facilities, technology infrastructure, recruiting, Human Resources, Quality Assurance, Workforce Management, and local administrative support.
