In July 2019, CCSI welcomed a group of students from the University of San Diego's Trans-Border Institute to one of its Nearshore Mexico operations centers.
The visit took place at CCSI's Otay Center in Tijuana, one of the company's main operations centers in the region. At the time, the facility featured approximately 85,000 square feet of contact center infrastructure.
During the four-hour visit, the group of 15 students had the opportunity to meet with members of CCSI's Business Development Team, including Salvador Ramirez and Luis Galindo, as well as Luis Martinez, who served as General Manager of the Otay Center at the time, and Gustavo Leon, who served as General Manager of the Plaza Agua Caliente Center.
The students learned about CCSI's sales processes and operational management by engaging directly with members of the company's Operations and Business Development teams.
Students gained insight into how CCSI managed different client programs, including Debt Collection, appointment setting, and Loan Servicing.
They also learned how departments such as Human Resources, Finance, Sales, Marketing, IT, and Operations work together to achieve business objectives and meet client implementation deadlines.
The students then participated in a one-hour tour of the operations floor, where they had the opportunity to meet CCSI's bilingual and bicultural agents and managers and observe how Nearshore Contact Center programs were managed in practice.
At the conclusion of the operations-floor tour, the students participated in a Q&A session with CCSI's Business Development team for a deeper discussion about the challenges and opportunities the Tijuana region offers U.S. businesses.
The Q&A created an enriching exchange of information between the students and CCSI executives. Students asked questions about the company's corporate culture, internal policies, privacy regulations, compliance, and IT solutions supporting CCSI's five centers at the time.
The visit gave students an opportunity to better understand how CCSI managed operations in Tijuana and Mexico City while creating professional opportunities in Mexico and helping U.S. companies expand their business operations through a Nearshore model.
Visits like this also demonstrate the close economic, educational, and cultural relationship between San Diego and Tijuana and provide students with firsthand exposure to how cross-border businesses operate.
